Consider a gift to the Arts Center for #GivingTuesday and help support our creative youth development program, Hang12! This program not only serves as a small business incubator for high schoolers, but has also transformed lives by paying students for the work they do, enabling students to generate income at the same time they receive hands-on training in business skills. In the words of past participant Mary Jo, “HANG12 has been really important and influential in my life because it has given me real insight on how to be a leader and ideas on future careers.” HANG12’s goals are to engage meaningfully with the community, curate exhibitions featuring emerging artists, program a large-scale community event, and create handmade merchandise to generate revenue.
Unfortunately, due to a revenue loss brought on by COVID-19 and the resulting decrease of tuition-based enrollments, the component of the program where the students receive compensation for their work is in jeopardy. Your contribution, of whatever amount is possible, will directly impact HANG12 students and allow these youth participants to be paid for their hours of hard work. As participant Sam said, “the experience of getting to do something so real and applicable to life” is precious. By giving to this program, you will allow these students to create, curate and promote other emerging artists and help them find their voice; showing them first hand that a career in the arts is possible!
