We have been blown away by Taro Takizawa, our 2022/23 Printmaking Artist in Residence.
Taro started off at the LAC with an immediate desire to fill our windows with beautiful vinyl designs that give the Arts Center an innovative edge at both our main building and studio space at 10th and Mass. He has also recently designed Cantilever water bottles that are sold at Sunflower Outdoor & Bike Shop.
This summer is the LAST CHANCE to take art classes with Taro at the Lawrence Arts Center. Classes include “Blend Masters: Relief Printing” and “Expect the Unexpected: Collaborative Printmaking” which both offer an opportunity to diversify how one makes and perceives an image.
Blend Masters: Relief Printing, June 7 – July 26, Wednesdays 5:30PM-7:30PM, $200 ($180)
Participants will work on carving blocks and print with colorful split-fountains (blends of two or more colors) to create relief prints. Some prior relief printing experience would be helpful but not necessary.
Expect the Unexpected: Collaborative Printmaking, June 8 – July 27, Thursdays 5:30PM-7:30PM, $200 ($180)
This course will focus on collaboration with your peers, enhance your work, create chaos and great surprises in your prints that you won’t get otherwise. Our two main collaborative projects will include relief printing and monotype with stencils.
