Performing Arts this October: Candy, Ghosts, and Performances Abound!

Check out the fantastical offerings for all ages this October!

Our Story Slam series continues on Friday, October 4th with the theme “Adventures in Kansas.” Live music by Jonathan Fleig begins at 7pm and the slam starts at 7:30pm. Never the same story, or evening, twice.

Join us on October 5th for a second weekend of Spill, Squish, Crunch: a sensory laboratory for 0-6 year olds. Get ready to spill, squish, and crunch your way through the Sensory Laboratory, a world that explores the five senses through tactile and sensory experiences. Designed in our Play Lab series, elements in the Sensory Laboratory were developed by local artists with children ages 1-6 and their families as artistic partners in the process. Join us in a curious investigation of how our world looks, feels, sounds, tastes, and smells in this latest Theatre & Dance for the Very Young production.

The time has come for our fall musical Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka on October 11-13 and 17-20! The delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale. This production features 57 cast members of all ages (featured in the image above) who can’t wait to take you on this magical journey.

Finally, join yarn-spinning Ric Averill at Ghosting Lawrence: A Theatrical Tour of Downtown Haunts on October 25-27, October 30-21, and November 1-2. Based on authenticated hauntings, Averill tells a tale of a town transported, burned, scarred, Phoenixed, uplifted and yet still haunted by ghosts from Quantrill’s Raid through the mid-1900s.
