New Ticketing Policies – You Spoke, We Listened!

If you’ve purchased tickets for Arts Center events this fall, you may have noticed that all taxes and fees are now included in our advertised ticket price! After receiving feedback from our audiences wanting to know the total cost of admission with all of the taxes and fees up front, we worked with our online ticketing agent to make this happen.

For example, an adult ticket for our last year’s 2018 Family Musical production, Oliver!, was advertised at a price of $25. Once the sales tax and ticketing agent fees were added, the total price paid by the customer was $30.76.

With our new ticketing policies, the advertised adult ticket for this year’s 2019 Family Musical production, Willy Wonka, was $30 with all taxes and fees included, resulting in a small savings to the customer.

Similarly, last year’s adult tickets for The Nutcracker, A Kansas Ballet, were advertised at $25, with a grand total $30.76 after taxes and fees. This year’s adult tickets to Nutcracker are $30 all-inclusive.

But still, why are tickets so expensive? We get this question all the time and encourage you to compare our prices with other performing arts organizations in the region. We strive to keep our ticket prices as low as possible while achieving the highest quality in educational instruction as well as production artistry. As the largest employer of artists in the state of Kansas, the Arts Center values the craft of our professional performing arts designers, staff, and technicians and provides compensation for their work on our productions.

We truly believe art is for everyone and provide free tickets with partnering organizations for several of our productions, as well as ticketing assistance for those in need.

Finances should not be a barrier to artistic experience, and we are always happy to work with our community to provide access to the arts for ALL.
