The Four Elements group show is now on display in the front gallery. Each artist’s work represents one of the four elements, using a different medium to invoke thought, conversation, and action related to environmental topics. The element of wind is represented by stained glass artist Shanna Wagner.
Shanna Wagner first fell in love with glass at the University of Kansas, where she studied both glass blowing and stained glass. She spent a year studying Art at the University of Aberystwyth in Wales, with many field trips to visit beautiful stained glass windows all through Europe. After completing her BFA in Design, she continued working with glass while living in Austin, Texas, where she worked for Renaissance Glass, a custom stained glass company, and assisted at the Medore von Koffler hot glass studio.
Shanna returned to the Lawrence area, where she set up a studio specializing in custom designed stained-glass panels and glass mosaics. She creates work for corporations and private individuals and has sold her work in galleries, shops, and regional art shows. She also teaches Stained Glass and Mosaics at the Lawrence Arts Center. Shanna believes strongly in the value of the arts in the community and supports local artists, donates to charity auctions, and participates in local events like Jayhawks on Parade.
The Four Elements, a Group Show will be on display in the front gallery through June 4. You can meet all the artists in an INSIGHT Art Talk on May 11 at 7pm.
