School of Dance

Our mission is to cultivate artistry, excellence, and healthy communities through dance training, performance, and outreach.

Cultivating the art of dance within the entire community, our vision is to make dance 100% accessible to all. For over 30 years, the School of Dance’s curriculum has been based on national dance education standards and taught by professionals. Students follow a sequential training program developed to suit age and ability that fosters creativity as well as technique. Focused on developing the artist as well as the art, the School of Dance offers frequent opportunities for performance through numerous and diverse dance productions as well as the pre-professional ballet company, Lawrence Ballet Theatre.

Welcome to the School of Dance Virtual Class Portal!

Throughout the summer, all dance classes will be held online, via live interactive Zoom sessions. During the summer session, video recordings will not be available. In-person participation is subject to guidelines set forth by the Kansas Department of Health & Environment, the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department & Arts Center availability. We will come together to dance when it is safe to return, with limited class size and adherence to health/safety guidelines within the building and our studios. Updates will be emailed to enrollees as they occur.

• Hair should be properly groomed.
• Remove any unnecessary furniture, cords, rugs or other hazards to have an open and safe space to dance.
