Cult classic ‘Carnival of Souls’ to screen at Liberty Hall | The Lawrence Times

Just ahead of Halloween, the Free State Film Society will screen “Carnival of Souls,” a cult classic by Lawrence filmmaker Herk Harvey and written by John Clifford.

The film features familiar Lawrence locations. Keyboardist Jeff Stolz will set the stage with live music ahead of the screening.

The plot of “Carnival of Souls”: “A young woman survives a drag race accident, then agrees to take a job as a church organist in Salt Lake City. En route, she is haunted by a bizarre apparition that compels her toward an abandoned lakeside pavilion,” according to the Film Society.
