The Lawrence Arts Center is proud to share information about our Food Drive for the Elizabeth Ballard Community Services and Early Childhood Center. Read below to learn more about our continued partnership with the Ballard Center and how you can get involved!
Our Partnership
In 2019-2020, our programs in Performing Arts and Theatre and Dance for the Very Young partnered with the Ballard Center on our production of Atmosphere. This work was a six-week art installation and a recurring performance set in our middle exhibitions gallery. We worked with children in the Ballard Early Childhood Program through our Play Lab series. In these research sessions we explored light, wind, clouds, rain, and sky, then we built the Atmosphere production based entirely on their ideas! After finishing research at the Ballard Center site, students and staff came to the Lawrence Arts Center to see the production and watch all of their explorations come to life.
The Food Drive: July 20-31
Beyond their Early Childhood Program, the Ballard Center also offers both a food pantry and emergency services to families and individuals in Lawrence. Due to COVID-19, the Ballard Center’s services have become even more critical in supporting our local community.
We call on you to help us get necessary food and supplies for the Ballard Center Food Pantry! They are in need of:
- Boxed cereal
- Juice boxes
- Boxed pasta (macaroni and cheese, Rice-a-Roni, etc.)
- Baby formula (any kind or brand)
- Bonus! You can also donate Splash Pads to their Early Childhood Program to give the kids a fun place to cool off during the summer heat!
How To Participate
We encourage you to take your items directly to the Ballard Center building Monday through Friday between the hours of 10:00 am and 5:30 pm.
