Calling Actors, Singers, and Dancers ages 8 and up!
The Lawrence Arts Center is delighted to announce that L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz will be presented this coming spring! Join us for a totally new twist on this classic musical, reimagined in an exciting new design, 1920’s style. A local production with lots of heart, this will be a wondrous evening of enchanting music, stunning choreography, and sensational performances.

Auditions:
Saturday, January 6
9:30 am: 8-9 years old
11:00 am: 10-12 years old
1:00 pm: 13-15 years old
2:30 pm: 16-18 years old
3:30 pm: Adults
Callback Auditions:
Sunday, January 7 at 2:30pm
TBD Monday and Tuesday, January 8-9
Those auditioning should:
-bring 16 bars of a Broadway or pop song with sheet music
-prepare a monologue (30-60 seconds)
-come prepared to dance
-arrive 15 minutes early to check in
-list all conflicts on your audition form
Important Dates:
January 9: Cast List goes up in the evening
January 11: Rehearsals start, all cast members called
January 15: No rehearsal, Martin Luther King Jr. Day
January 18: All cast members must be enrolled to continue participation
February 2: Rehearsal will be held at the Eagles Lodge at 1803 W 6th St.
February 18-21: Tech & Dress Rehearsals- MANDATORY, everyone is called to these rehearsals
Performance Dates: February 22-24 @7:30pm, February 25 @3pm, March 1-3 @7:30pm. March 4 @3pm
Special Notes:
-Due to the large volume of those auditioning, we will not be calling everyone back. If you are not called back, it does NOT mean that you are not cast. We will let you know if you are called back on the evening of January 6th and the cast list will be announced on the evening of January 9th.
-This production is an all play, meaning that all those that audition will be cast. However, due to our limited rehearsal schedule, if a performer has too many conflicts with the rehearsal calendar or any conflicts with the tech/dress rehearsals and performances, they may not be cast.
-All cast members are expected to be present and on time for all rehearsals they are called to.
-We may ask cast members to provide their own dance shoes, tights, and undergarments.
-The role of the Wicked Witch has already been filled.
Rehearsals:
-Rehearsals will be held Monday-Friday from 6:15-10pm starting on January 11th through the beginning of tech week on February 18th. An official rehearsal schedule with individual call dates/times will be made available at first rehearsal. We will make best efforts to ensure that the youngest members of the cast are not held until the late hours.
Conflicts:
-It is expected that each performer will attend all rehearsals they are called to. That being said, we are aware that some performers will have occasional conflicts. It is critical that you list all of your conflicts so that we can build the schedule accordingly.
-We ask that there be no conflicts beginning February 18th through the run of the show.
