Plein Air Printmaking
En Plein Air is a French expression meaning “in the open air”. Typically, it refers to the practice of drawing or painting outdoors with the artist’s subject in full view. Thanks Wayne Plein Air for the definition. Our current Printmaking Resident, Rachel Beer, has developed a fascinating practice of studying plant life that grows between the cracks of pavement, bricks, rocks, and more as subject-matter for observational drawings and prints. The class she’s offering this summer will show us how:
Take the joy of printmaking into the great outdoors! Create lively observational drawings on drypoint plates that will be printed and layered using monotype techniques.
