Kicking off our Summer Youth Theatre novice section, 1st-4th grade students have been hard at work rehearsing Anansi Stories for the last two weeks. Filled with all of the animals in the jungle, this play tells many stories of the different tricks that Anansi the spider plays. In their final days of rehearsal, the cast has finished creating masks and props, developed their characters, and worked as an ensemble to bring the story to life.
Director Becky Ford O’Keefe worked with the students to incorporate their ideas and designs through the process. “It’s just so fun because they have such great ideas.”
The performance will be at 11AM on June 10 at the Lawrence Arts Center black box.
