What is Play12?
Play12 is the Lawrence Arts Center’s youth performance company. It expands on the fundamentals of acting and focuses on the development of production, creation, community, and leadership skills through public performance.
The winter semester of PLAY12 will focus on developing an original production, Lawrence Love Letters. Each member will have the opporunity to write, design, and/or perform in this professional production that will open to the public on the Arts Center’s mainstage. Rehearsals, tech week, and performance outside of class time will be required.
Lawrence Love Letters is a performance and storytelling project centered on stories of love in our community that asks the following questions, “What does love look like? What does love sound like? What does love smell like? What does love feel like? What does love taste like?” We will explore these questions in a performance directly inspired by the ideas, sounds, words, stories, songs, and movement of local musicians, dancers, creative aging populations aged 65+ and youth ages 12-18.
