In February 2020 the Arts Center hosted project-based resident Abigail Smithson. During her stay in Lawrence, Smithson’s exhibit, The Need for a New Game, showed at the Explore Lawrence visitor center downtown. At the time, Smithson was also preparing an episode for her podcast, Dear Adam Silver. Episode 70, What Basketball Means to Lawrence, KS, premiered December 31 and features the familiar voice of the Lawrence Arts Center’s own Director of Early Childhood Education, Linda Reimond! Other guests include photographer Nick Krug, artist Leo Hayden, basketball afficionado Curtis Marsh, and exhibit curator Tim Gaddie of the DeBruce Center.
