During the months of September and October, HANG12 has been working alongside local artist Kris Kuksi to plan, curate, and install a high school submission show based on recreating personal mythologies and finding the symbolism within them.
In September, Kris Kuksi gave presentations to Free State High School and Lawrence High students, before welcoming them on a studio tour. Students presented ideas and explored Kris’s technique while getting a peek at Kris’s newest work.
In early October, Kris met with students to give one-on-one critiques of their in-progress works. Students will then submit works October 8th, that will then be curated by HANG12 and Kris. Installation of the exhibition will be a team effort between Kris and the members of HANG12, as they prepare for an opening on Final Friday.
Traditions Reconstructed, a Mixed Media High School Exhibition, will open this month, October 25th, from 5-9 pm at Edward Jones (888 New Hampshire).
