Sept. 6 & 7 | The Nutcracker, A Kansas Ballet Auditions
Age Requirement: 1st Grade to Adults
Calling youth dancers and adults to audition for The Nutcracker, A Kansas Ballet!
This production is based on E.T.A. Hoffman’s original story and set in Lawrence, Kansas during the Civil War era. This ballet production tells the story of how Drosselmeyer and Clara liberate the Nutcracker from the clutches of the Mouse King. This family production is for audiences of all ages. Be a part of this winter seasonal favorite! Auditions are Saturday, September 6.
Auditioning for the production is FREE but pre-registration online by Sept. 4 is required. Audition applicants are asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to their audition time and dress wearing appropriate dance attire. Applicants do not need to prepare any material prior to the audition, but youth applicants are required to be enrolled in ballet classes at the Arts Center or any surrounding area studios. There are no requirements for adults.
Sept. 12-15 | LBT Presents Madeline at the Lawrence Public Library
Free but pre-registration is required
Back by popular demand, it’s Madeline! This dance performance, inspired by the beloved children’s books by Ludwig Bemelmans, tells the story of the brave little girl, Madeline. Under the watchful eye of Miss Clavel, Madeline and her boarding school classmates take on the adventures of life. With choreography by Cynthia Crews and performed by the acclaimed Lawrence Ballet Theatre, this performance is for children of all ages.

Oct. 4 | Runway + Rhythm: Fall Fundraiser
Join us for a new event where creativity takes the runway! The night kicks off with an exclusive VIP cocktail hour followed by a high-energy fashion show spotlighting bold designs and regional talent. After the final look hits the catwalk, the lights go down, and the music turns up for an unforgettable dance party you won’t want to miss. Dress to impress—and get ready to move in support of the arts!
