Kiss Today Goodbye!

It has been an incredible seven years at the Lawrence Arts Center – from the day I walked the door in November 2010, I have been able to enjoy the creative spirit, passion, energy, and love that pulses from every pore of this wonderful organization.   As many of you know, it simply pure joy to be in this sacred place.   The staff, the artists, the teachers, the children, and our amazing donors and supporters have all been the keys to the unbelievable growth and success of this unique place we have right here in our community – I do not think there is another place like it in the world, and I have been so proud to be a part of it.

I will miss the opportunity to share with sponsors and donors all the incredible programming that needs support.  Each and every director at the Lawrence Arts Center imagines, creates, and carefully curates performances that bring audiences from laughter to tears and to their feet; lesson plans for the next generation of science and technology geniuses; early childhood education arts-based learning; and contemporary exhibitions that create conversation, sometimes confusion, but most often inspiration.

I am so thankful that Susan Tate badgered me for an entire year to join the team at LAC – giving in to her was the best choice I could have made!   Working together to make sure the creative and talented staff at LAC could pursue all of their programming ideas was very challenging but always so much fun – and the outcome of the support was never disappointing – the community benefitted, the directors were supported, and artists from literally all over the world came to Lawrence, Kansas to be a part of making the magic happen.

The LAC Family is a very special one – thank you to the staff, board of directors, and to the community of artists, students, donors, and business sponsors that have made my seven years here so special.  Congratulations to each and every one of you reading this who make it possible.  And, if you know me well, I would never sign off without saying, “Please donate to the Lawrence Arts Center.  We need your time, your talent, but most definitely your treasure!  And in return, the Lawrence Arts Center will provide YOU with the very best in all that we do.”  – Heather Hoy
