Gwentessa Alfie

Gwentessa Alfie has been involved at the Arts Center since 2003. She is versed in theatre, tap, ballet, modern, contemporary, hip-hop, and musical theatre. Gwentessa has appeared in numerous productions at the Lawrence Arts Center, including the Nutcracker, Snow Queen, and many Summer Youth Theatre shows. She has choreographed for SouthWest Middle School’s production of Beauty & the Beast, Frozen Jr., and Newsies! As a performer she has also been seen on stage at Theatre Lawrence in Something Rotten!, and the Arts Center’s Theatre & Dance for the Very Young show, My Name is Loofa Tutu. Gwentessa is also a paraprofessional educator for USD 497.

Jillian Schwartz

Jillian is a senior elementary education major with a theatre minor at Emporia State University. She is currently a student teacher in Kindergarten at Ridgeview elementary school in Olathe, KS. Jillian has been a part of the Lawrence Arts Center for a long time as a student, performer, intern, stage manager, and now teacher!

Jodie Little

Jodie has spent 13 years teaching in public schools. She holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Pittsburgh State University, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication and Theatre. Jodie loves theatre because it encompasses all art forms and challenges the limits of time and space.

Mercedes Lucero

Mercedes Lucero is an Afro-Latinx writer and the author of Stereometry (Another New Calligraphy 2018) and the chapbook, In the Garden of Broken Things (Flutter Press 2016). She is the winner of the Langston Hughes Creative Writing Award for Poetry and her writing can be found in New Ohio Review, Puerto del Sol, The Pinch, Heavy Feather Review, and Fourteen Hills among others. She holds a PhD in English Literature & Creative Writing from the University of Kansas.
