Online Art Talk Engages the Community

With nearly a thousand views between YouTube and Facebook (and growing!), the Final Friday INSIGHT Art Talk featuring Melville Scholar Elizabeth Schultz and Or, the Whale artist Jos Sances hit home with our audiences with its thoughtful discourse and interactive questions taken from online viewers. Sances’s nearly life-sized whale takes up the entire large gallery and tells the story of capitalism in America; tackling themes such as climate change, social justice, and economic disparity. The virtual conversation on September 25 afforded a unique opportunity to explore some of those issues as well as the artistic process and relationship to Melville’s literary masterpiece in an invigorating conversational format. If you weren’t able to catch the talk LIVE, you can view it on YouTube anytime. Or, the Whale is on display through October 24, so don’t miss the chance to see this once-in-a-lifetime installation for the first time (or come back for multiple viewings) before it swims away to further destinations.

Thank you to Truity Credit Union for making the INSIGHT Art Talk series possible.
