Margaret Weisbrod Morris Re-elected to the Arts Education Network Advisory Council

The Lawrence Arts Center is pleased to announce that Arts Center CEO Margaret Weisbrod Morris has been re-elected an advisory council member to the Arts Education Network at Americans for the Arts. Her two-year term begins January 1, 2019 and runs through December 31, 2020.

“I am thrilled to continue to serve on this council of dedicated professionals working to advance the arts and arts education nationally,” Weisbrod Morris says. “I view this as a unique opportunity to connect the important work happening here in Lawrence and the region with ideas, movements and initiatives developing across the country.”

The mission of Americans for the Arts is to build recognition and support for the extraordinary and dynamic value of the arts and to lead, serve, and advance the diverse networks of organizations and individuals who cultivate the arts in America. The Arts Education Network works on the local, state, and national levels, with members representing “a cross-section of arts education leaders, including arts administrators, teaching artists, school administrators, and representatives from higher education.” The Network promotes the arts as an essential educational component and strengthens communities of educators, empowering them to create innovative programming.

As an advisory council member, Weisbrod Morris will work in committee to advise on communications strategies, contribute expertise to professional development offerings, and weigh in on large-scale projects such as the Creative Youth Development Toolkit, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) initiatives, and the Arts Education Navigator.
