The voices of young people are important to the Rebuilding East Ninth Together Project and the East Lawrence Neighborhood!
The goal of the Youth Corps is to support young artists in East Lawrence in learning and creating, providing life skills and public art experience to carry into adulthood. Youth Corps artists can make art individually, as part of a group, or through their school. Projects can be permanent, temporary, event based, and in any medium. Projects must be public, in a place where people can see or experience them. We are especially interested in projects and artists who are committed to their community and will give their creative energy toward art with a little extra thought!
We encourage applicants with roots in East Lawrence to apply to Youth Corps, and we are committed to attracting creative young folks from diverse artistic and cultural backgrounds. Five projects will be selected by the Project Team. All creative young people are welcome to apply regardless of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability. Youth Corps artists will need a mentoring adult to support their projects. If you can’t decide on an adult to support your project by helping with paperwork and depositing checks, we can help you. Mentors are available to youth who need help with the application process, ideas, planning the budget, or any aspect of your project. Contact Richard Renner or the Project Team for help.
