We are thrilled to announce this year’s artists-in-residence, printmaker Hibiki Miyazaki and ceramicist Reece Henderson! Hibiki (pictured above on the left) and Reece (on the right) were selected from a highly competitive pool of candidates from around the country and will spend their year teaching in our studios, getting to know Lawrence community members, and creating new work that will be featured in their solo exhibitions in summer of 2027. Look for featured classes with Hibiki and Reece this fall and be sure to say ‘hi’ when you see them out and about!
HIBIKI MIYAZAKI

Hibiki Miyazaki is a drawing-based visual artist currently residing in Portland, Oregon. For the past 26 years, she has exhibited nationally and internationally, with works in collections including the Portland Art Museum, Hallie Ford Museum, and Pace University Art Gallery and with drawings showcased in Paris and Brussels. Her figurative scenes blend mystery and humor. Daughter of Japanese artist parents—a children’s book illustrator mother and woodworking father—she moved to Portland in 1997, discovering a vibrant printmaking co-op. There, she created prints that became the foundation of her life’s work. After the co-op closed in 2009, she shifted to minimalist drawings and collaborations with fellow artists.
