September 5-6  | LAC Irish Dancers @ KC Irish Fest

The Lawrence Arts Center Irish Dancers are headed to the Kansas City Irish Fest! Led by Annie Stark, dancers of all ages, from our wee dancers to our adult performance team,will take the stage for a celebration of Irish dance, culture, and community.

September 5-7 | Labor Day Holiday: No Classes

Enjoy the long weekend! There will be no School of Dance classes September 5–7 in observance of Labor Day. Regular classes resume Tuesday, September 8. We’ll see you back in the studios then!

 

September 26-27 | Auditions for The Nutcracker, A Kansas Ballet

Calling youth dancers and adults to audition for The Nutcracker, A Kansas Ballet!
This production is based on E.T.A. Hoffman’s original story and set in Lawrence, Kansas during the Civil War era. This ballet production tells the story of how Drosselmeyer and Clara liberate the Nutcracker from the clutches of the Mouse King. This family production is for audiences of all ages. Be a part of this winter seasonal favorite! Auditions are Saturday, September 26.

Auditioning for the production is FREE but pre-registration online by Sept. 24 is required. Audition applicants are asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to their audition time and dress wearing appropriate dance attire. Applicants do not need to prepare any material prior to the audition, but youth applicants are required to be enrolled in ballet classes at the Arts Center or any surrounding area studios. There are no requirements for adults.

September 28- October 3 | Class Observation Week

It’s Class Observation Week at the School of Dance! Families and caregivers of students in Full Semester Youth Classes are invited into the studio to watch class and see what their dancers have been working on so far this semester. Pop in and out or stay for the whole class, we’d love to have you!

October 9-10 | Lawrence Ballet Theatre presents Transcendent: Excerpts from Giselle and Other Works

Join Lawrence Ballet Theatre for a mixed-repertoire show celebrating ballet, from the romantic era to the neoclassical. This performance will comprise excerpts from the haunting ballet Giselle, from a joyful peasant tableau to the iconic chilling graveyard scene—watch ballerinas waltz cheerfully across the stage before the ghostly Willis entrance you. The program will also include a selection of original classical and contemporary works, showcasing the artistry, athleticism, and versatility of Lawrence Ballet Theatre’s pre-professional dancers.
