It is with heartfelt appreciation that we congratulate Kyla Strid as she steps away from her role as Director of Visual Arts Education and joins the Artist Services team at Mid-America Arts Alliance. We are grateful for Kyla’s dedication to education and artist-in-residency programming over the last twelve years, having expanded the Arts Center’s education programming and cultivating community-based classes such as Canoe Building, Drawing Lawrence, and Large Scale Puppet-making (just to name a few!). During her time at LAC, Kyla fostered professional development initiatives and helped raise the caliber of the residency program to be one of the top programs in the country. We are thrilled that her adept skills, positive energy and signature laugh will continue to bring to joy to the ceramics studio as an instructor.
Please join us in wishing Kyla well on her next chapter and welcoming our talented Studio Manager Kathryn Combs as she steps into her new role as Interim Director of Visual Arts Education. Kathryn is a printmaker and interdisciplinary artist whose work focuses on the intersection of technology, society, and daily life. She received her MFA in Printmaking from Indiana University in 2021 and we are excited for her to shine in this position at the Arts Center in the new year!
