Thanks to a Fine Arts Grant from the Alpha Delta Kappa Foundation, the Early Childhood Education program at the Lawrence Arts Center is gearing up to launch a Guest Artist Series in the coming school year! The grant will help bring fine arts practitioners from various backgrounds to the Arts Center, providing preschool and kindergarten students with instruction and participation in the arts above and beyond their usual arts-based classroom activities. The Guest Artist Series will also serve as professional development for classroom teachers.
The Lawrence Arts Center’s unique early childhood education program provides over 500 children each year with an arts-based education designed to build their self-esteem and intellectual ability. We know that art does not continue without artists, and we are excited to add to the arts experiences of students in the program. The Guest Artist Series will unfold over the course of the school year, from September 2018 through July 2019. Activities will include a concert with accompaniment from a visiting musician, ceramics instruction, printmaking, dance and drama activities, storytelling and more!
Huge thanks to the Alpha Delta Kappa Foundation for this opportunity!
