Call for Artists: The Zinn Youth Writer’s Project

Project Details:

  • When: February–April 2025
  • Where: Lawrence Arts Center and Liberty Memorial Central Middle School
  • Stipend: $2,000

Description of Opportunity
The Lawrence Arts Center seeks authors, poets, and creative writers to mentor 7th-grade English Language Arts students at Liberty Memorial Central Middle School as part of the Zinn Writing Project.

The Zinn Writing Project is an inspiring opportunity for artists to collaborate with an English Language Arts teacher to design and lead a creative writing project that provides students with insights into personal and professional writing practices.

The project will take place over several weeks between February and April 2025. The selected artist will develop project ideas with input from the Lawrence Arts Center Director of Youth & Teen Education and the Liberty Memorial Central Middle School English Language Arts teacher. The artist will visit the classroom up to five times during the creative process to work directly with students as they develop their writings, culminating in a finished product such as a publication, video recital, visual artwork, or another tangible outcome.

Zinn Writing Project History

The Zinn Writing Project is made possible by the generous support of the Zinn Family in memory of their daughter, Rebecca Zinn.
