Blanca Herrada Joins artEquity’s BIPOC Leadership Circle

Without the daily contributions of our hard-working leaders, The Lawrence Arts Center wouldn’t be who we are today. We are proud of the people who dedicate their time, skills, and energy to promoting our mission– which is why we’ll jump at any opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments!

We’re thrilled to congratulate Blanca Herrada, Exhibitions Coordinator here at the Arts Center, on being selected to participate in artEquity’s BIPOC Leadership Circle! This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity was designed by artEquity to bring together a diverse selection of creative leaders and focus on building new methods and approaches that center the experiences of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) within the arts and culture sector.

Blanca will join 39 other cohort members who represent a variety of arts-based organizations for the four-month program, which will consist of virtual meetings before concluding with an in-person event in June.

The goal of the cohort will be to encourage a shift in the understanding of what it means to be a leader, focusing on the efforts and innovative ideas put forth by all members of an organization– even those not occupying an official position of power. With this inclusive approach to leadership, the cohort aims to support and acknowledge the contributions of BIPOC leaders, which are often overlooked.

The Lawrence Arts Center is honored to have an integral member of our leadership team recognized by artEquity. As Exhibitions Coordinator, Blanca plays an essential role in ensuring art is for everyone, a message that not only defines the Lawrence Arts Center but also aligns with the goals of the BIPOC Leadership Circle.

Congratulations Blanca! We’re excited for you to represent The Lawrence Arts Center through this inspiring opportunity to help foster inclusivity within the world of arts and culture!
