Thanks to a generous grant from the Douglas County Community Foundation, the Lawrence Arts Center recently purchased a brand new kiln to replace an older, failing one. The new kiln, a Skutt purchased from Brackers Good Earth Clay here in Lawrence, was delivered and installed on March 18th and has already done several bisque firings, helping to complete the work of dozens of students in our Ceramics classes.
In many Ceramics studios it’s a tradition to christen a new kiln by naming it, and we invite the community to contribute unique names for the new kiln. The name suggestion form will be open until Wednesday, April 8th. The top names will be put to a vote on our Instagram page soon after. Make sure to follow us to stay up to date on the naming process.
To suggest a name, please visit the name suggestion form here: Help us name our new kiln!
All submissions are welcome, and you can share as many ideas as you like!
