New Lawrence Ballet Theatre Production Kicks Off the Season with New Energy and a Haunting Performance

Just in time for Halloween, the Lawrence Ballet Theatre presents Transcendent, an ethereal production featuring excerpts from the haunting classic Giselle (including a chilling graveyard scene!) as well as other mesmerizing works of classical and contemporary dance. Transcendent will be the first production helmed by Liat Roth in her new role as Artistic Director of the Lawrence Ballet Theatre. This year marks other exciting changes in the Lawrence Arts Center School of Dance. After a successful year, Claire Buss takes the ‘Interim’ off her title and leads the team as Dance Program Director,  Cindy Crews has been named Artistic Director Emeritus of the Lawrence Ballet Theatre, and Allison McNellis has come on board as Dance Program Coordinator.

And as for why everyone in Lawrence should see the season’s inaugural production, Liat Roth says: “The dancers of Lawrence Ballet Theatre will bring their extraordinary talents to this mixed-bill performance, exploring themes of femininity, the turning seasons, and the otherworldly.”

This year, five high school seniors take the stage for their final fall season with LBT. “We are so proud of the hard work they have given to our organization, and we are excited to celebrate the milestones of senior year with them,” says Liat. Transcendent also features two self-choreographed works by senior dancers, Isla Gnojek and Photina Adrian.
