Are you a local printmaker committed to artistic excellence and community engagement? If so, we’d love to have you as our 2020 Lawrence Arts Center Printmaking Intern!
Our Print studio internship is an unpaid position that offers a unique opportunity to work with our community of accomplished printmaking instructors, staff members, and our annual Printmaking Artist-in-Residence. We are looking for someone with a desire to gain additional experience in helping run and maintain an active community print studio. This position includes studio access and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
An ideal candidate should have a BFA in printmaking or equivalent experience in the field of printmaking. Applicants must be self-motivated, largely self-directed, have strong communication and organizational skills, and work well with others.
Our Print Intern is Responsible For:
9 hours a week of studio maintenance which includes cleaning shop surfaces, maintaining shop presses and equipment, and monitoring chemicals and consumable materials.
Our Print Intern will also assist with various long term shop improvement projects, as well as with the execution of community engagement activities and fundraising opportunities.
The Print Intern works closely with the Print Studio Coordinator to determine a flexible work schedule, and to determine weekly priorities.
Benefits:
The Print Studio Intern is provided access to the printmaking shop and equipment 9 AM to 9 PM daily for the duration of the internship, as well as the free use of ink, donated paper, and other consumable shop materials. Interns are awarded one free printmaking class per each session of the internship, typically three classes total.
