Two for One Tickets for Dance Students to Tori Lawrence + Co’s Progress!

All enrolled LAC dance students will receive a two for one discount on tickets of equal or lesser value for Tori Lawrence + Co.’s “Progress” on November 4th and 5th at 7:30 pm.   Please see the front desk to purchase tickets with this discount and mention that you are a student in the school of dance. Tickets to “Progress” are $25 for adults, $18 for seniors, and $10 for children.

“Progress” features Associate Director of Dance Eleanor Goudie-Averill, guest artist Taryn Griggs, and KC-based rock band, The Shiny Jets.  Set in a pristine white space, the piece challenges the concept of societal progress by looking at trends of normativity and homogenization within mid-century American culture. By bringing up past struggles surrounding gender, sexuality, and race, the piece encourages audience members to reflect on their current modes of thinking and to question the society’s forward march towards perfection. As the dance progresses, the performance’s perfect white space gradually breaks down and exposes the interchangeability between utopian and dystopian worlds.  This evening-length dance piece is not to be missed!
