About the Artist
Matthew Lord is a Lawrence, Kansas-based artist whose playful, absurd, and fantastically realistic work is rooted in a lifelong love of pop culture, mythology, and the natural world. A graduate of the University of Kansas with a BFA in Illustration, he works primarily in gouache, ink, and printmaking to create everything from intimate paintings to massive jackalope-shaped murals on wheels. His career spans exhibitions, editorial illustration, workshops, and community collaborations, and he embraces roles as a teacher, curator, and storyteller. At the heart of his practice is a desire to spark awe through weird, wonderful, and beautiful art.
