We are now accepting applications for our 2026-27 year-long artist residencies!

The Lawrence Arts Center provides a supportive, creative environment for emerging artists while enriching our community through new perspectives and innovative techniques. We are currently seeking self-directed artists in Ceramics and Printmaking who are ready to engage with our students, faculty, and the vibrant arts scene in Lawrence, Kansas.

The Opportunity

The residency runs from August 15, 2026, through July 31, 2027. Residents are provided with the space and resources to focus on their craft while gaining valuable teaching and professional gallery experience.

Key Benefits:

  • Financial Support: A $1,500 monthly stipend plus a $2,000 professional development honorarium.
  • Housing & Studio: Furnished housing and 24-hour access to all studios (Ceramics, Print, Drawing, Metals, Photography, Digital Media, and Wood Shop).
  • Exhibition: A solo exhibition at the Lawrence Arts Center with curatorial and technical support.
  • Community Engagement: Teaching opportunities and structured outreach with local schools and universities.
  • Education: Residents receive one free class per session at the Lawrence Arts Center, a total of four classes per year

Who Should Apply?

The ideal candidate should have an MFA (or equivalent professional experience) and a demonstrated interest in experimentation. Residents contribute 15 hours per week to studio maintenance, outreach, and exhibition assistance in addition to teaching two classes per session, helping to sustain our creative ecosystem.
