Melanie Pierce holds an MFA in creative writing from Stony Brook University, where she was a 2020-2021 BookEnds fellow. Her work has appeared in Grist, Electric Literature, Vol. 1 Brooklyn, Pleiades, and elsewhere. Currently, she is a 2021-2023 studio resident at the Charlotte Street Foundation in Kansas City, Missouri, and she teaches writing at the Kansas City Art Institute.

Curious about writing a short story or a novel about a haunted house? We will explore classic haunted houses in literature, investigating what makes them spooky and the themes they can represent. Through discussion and prompts, writers will build their own terrifying domestic space, and everyone will have the opportunity to workshop.
