Melanie Pierce holds an MFA in creative writing from Stony Brook University, where she was a 2020-2021 BookEnds fellow. Her work has appeared in Grist, Electric Literature, Vol. 1 Brooklyn, Pleiades, and elsewhere. Currently, she is a 2021-2023 studio resident at the Charlotte Street Foundation in Kansas City, Missouri, and she teaches writing at the Kansas City Art Institute.

You’ve written a short story, and you believe in the work, but how do you make it great? In this class, writers will bring in an existing story draft and, through revision exercises, break their story and build it back stronger. Everyone will have the opportunity for an in-depth workshop, and the class will cover how to submit your work for publication.
