Maeve Hilgers is an artist and art educator from small town, Southern Kansas, who has lived in Lawrence for the past 7 years. She graduated in 2021 from KU with a bachelors in Visual Art Education and has been working in community art education and focusing on her ceramics practice since. Her ceramics are often functional, and usually inspired by her love for plants, animals, and the natural world. She also brings influence from other art mediums into her clay practice such as tattoo styles, printmaking and painting. You can often find her and her work at local art markets around town.

This camp will introduce students to the skills to create a pot on the wheel as we practice creating functional forms. When not on the wheel, students will have the opportunity to explore hand-building techniques to create small objects and sculptures.
