Contemporary Art Exhibitions
Find Your Art, Find Your Community
Our exhibitions program enriches the community by presenting the best in contemporary art.
We actively engage audiences through multi-disciplinary exhibitions that question and inspire. Our galleries are free and open to the public all year round.
To that end, the Lawrence Arts Center features 20-25 exhibitions each year from diverse artists in all media, ranging from local preschool children to internationally known artists. Such richness reflects the community that the Arts Center serves. Many of the original artworks on display are available for purchase. Learn more about the artists and their art by visiting our galleries.

What can I expect from a contemporary art exhibition?
Contemporary art exhibitions cover countless artistic mediums and expressions. Typically, you can expect an art exhibition to feature artistic displays in a gallery setting with opportunities to purchase art in mediums like printmaking, mixed media, ceramics, digital, metals, and many more.
Some art exhibitions feature multiple works of art from a single artist, others feature a collection of work from different artists. The Lawrence Arts Center presents approximately 25 exhibitions throughout the year. The program offers a diverse range of creative approaches, mediums, and backgrounds in artists.
For example, the Linda Reimond Preschool and Kelly Galloway Kindergarten Exhibition features works from preschool and kindergarten students. Arts Center early childhood students have the opportunity to work with professional artists, actors, dancers, and musicians, attend performances, and create in the studios. Creative confidence and innovative skills are clear in the exhibited work of these very young students.
Viewing art exhibitions offers a unique artistic experience. Connecting the pieces together highlights their similarities, differences, and the way the art works together to create something more.
Contemporary art simply means any art created by living artists. Our exciting contemporary art exhibitions engage your senses and ignite your creativity.
