This drawing workshop will teach you to render the shimmering surfaces and distorted reflections of metal or glass surfaces using white conte crayon, colored pencils, and pastels on black paper to make glistening still-life studies.

Practice portraiture basics to create drawings that look like the people you're trying to draw. We will work from a live model to learn about facial proportions and how to render the planes of the face using various drawing tools.

Push the possibilities of painting to the limit in this camp that will get you thinking beyond the frame of the canvas. We’ll experiment with wild paint additives, paint on found objects, make patterns with spray paint, and even draw with fire and heat to make extreme compositions.

This mixed-media camp will introduce teen artists to darkroom photography and printmaking techniques through experimental explorations of color and value. In the darkroom we will make surrealistic drawings with light, using photo development techniques and tools. We’ll also make stacks of colorful prints while learning to use the printing press. Finally, we’ll combine what we create using collage and mixed-media techniques to make abstract compositions.

Learn the fundamentals of observational drawing to accurately render proportion, perspective, mass, and value. Students will explore various drawing media, including pencil, charcoal, pen and ink to draw things as they really are!

This camp will sample various art mediums and give a glimpse into what's possible for teen artists in the Arts Center's studios. We'll spend our week studio-hopping, exploring techniques in painting, printmaking, ceramics and metalsmithing.

Shrink the great works of the masters down to the size of a matchbook or spoon! We'll learn to carefully control our brush to paint on tiny canvases and found objects, making small-scale artworks that pack a punch.

Gain confidence in drawing the human body with a dynamic approach to rendering people. Students will spend time investigating human anatomy and skeletal structure using still-life models and photo studies before working with dressed models.
