Kathryn Combs

Interim Director of Visual Arts and Residencies


Kathryn Combs is a printmaker and interdisciplinary artist from Indiana whose work focuses on the intersection of technology, society, and daily life. Her prints and woven installations use mixed media such as screenprinting, photographic films, Tyvek, and spray paint. She received her MFA in Printmaking from Indiana University in 2021. Kathryn has taught art at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, IN, Auburn University in Auburn, AL, and Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK. Along with colleague Kacey Slone, Kathryn is co-owner of Junior Jr. Studio, an Indiana based Risograph studio. She is currently the Studio Manager at the Lawrence Arts Center where she manages visual arts studios and teaching classes.

Printmaking is the process of transferring ink from one surface to another, creating an original but repeatable artwork. In this class, you'll get a taste of three printmaking processes, collagraph (collage printing), relief (stamp making) and intaglio (copper plate printing).
