Justin Harbaugh

Director of Performing Arts


Justin Harbaugh holds a doctorate in clarinet performance degree from the University of Kansas. He has directed and choreographed numerous productions at the Lawrence Arts Center and Kansas high schools. Justin has danced professionally onboard Holland America Cruise Line, with Music Theatre of Wichita, at the Sands Casino in Atlantic City, and at the Tanzsommer Festival in Austria. In addition to being on the dance and theatre faculty at the Arts Center, he is also a lecturer of dance at KU. Justin owns and operates a private clarinet studio, and has also taught clarinet as a faculty member at Emporia State University, University of Kansas and Missouri Western State University. Tap dance combines rhythm, musicality, and coordination into a fun percussive movement session for your feet. Starting with Level I, students remain in each level until they've mastered the required material to progress to the next level. Students focus on identifying rhythmic patterns, structures, syncopation, counter rhythms, and call and response. Rudimentary tap dance sequences such as time-steps and more complex vocabulary are regularly rehearsed. Students in this class have the option to participate in the Winter Dance Sharing on Dec. 4
