The Jazz Dance program features various styles of jazz including classic, Broadway, and contemporary. Beginning students focus on building rhythm, coordination, and character skills until they are ready for syncopation movements, body isolations, dynamic leaps, suspended turns, and stylized choreography.

This intermediate/advanced-level class aims to develop the dancer's ability to produce dynamic leaps, turns, kicks, body part isolation, syncopation, counter rhythm, and perform stylized choreography. No class Mar 12, Mar 19.

Those enrolling are expected to be familiar with general policies, attire, and opportunities outlined in the School of Dance Handbook.

    Enrollment in both Tues/Thurs Pointe and the prior ballet technique classes are required. First-year students wear ballet slippers until approved to purchase and wear pointe shoes. Classes focus on strengthening the body and using proper technique in preparation for the rigors of dancing en pointe. In addition to the two pointe classes, Ballet V-VI students are required to enroll in three ballet technique classes per week.
