Take a trip to South America and discover the architectural traditions and vibrant cultural history of Lima, the capital city of Peru. We’ll explore the surrounding beaches and jungles and investigate the types of shops, markets, restaurants, and other buildings that make this city special. Working in small groups, we’ll create collaborative cardboard structures which we’ll assemble to make a kid-sized cityscape in the Main Lobby for our families and friends to tour at the end of the week. (Note: These structures may be too large to take home!)

Sample a variety of fiber arts techniques such as dyeing, creating stamped patterns, appliquéing, and embroidering. We’ll bring it all together as we learn to use a sewing machine to create a simple bag using our fiber experiments.

This camp will prepare young artists to sell their work at Art Mart as we fill our booths with handmade stickers and prints, learn simple projects for home décor, and create jewelry and fashion designs that will fly off the shelves. Each young artist will design and prepare a vendor's booth before inviting family and friends to spend special "LAC Art Bucks" at the Art Mart grand opening!
