Welcome to Bikini Bottom! 🍍

Welcome to the Lawrence Arts Center’s production of The SpongeBob Musical! On July 17, 1999, the SpongeBob SquarePants cartoon burst onto our TV sets, and we were immediately immersed in the adventures of an optimistic young sponge. We now take his biggest adventure onto our Main Stage with this 2018 Tony Nominee for Best Musical.

In a world where citizens of Bikini Bottom are uncertain what tomorrow may bring, and their home is threatened, the town is quickly thrown into chaos. Who will save the day? SpongeBob and his friends Sandy and Patrick show us that, to counter the forces of bigotry, exploitation, and disinformation, we must treat each other with kindness, foster inclusion, and gain empathy.

The performers, musicians, and crew worked to create this show in just six weeks. Their skills and passion are beyond words, and they have pushed our creativity each day.

Thank you to the leadership that brought this show to life: Erin, Ric, Leslie, Kalen, Samaria, Lexey, and Elizabeth—finally, a big thank you to all the families, caregivers and audience members. We could not do this without all of you!
