Kim Brook | Life in Bloom

In Life in Bloom, Kim Brook celebrates the intersection of nature, craft, and human connection. Inspired by past ceramic residencies and her present community, Kim includes ceramics, mixed media, and collaborative works.

Jason Wang | Ceramics Resident | Be-Longing

Be-Longing explores the human desire for community and connection through handmade pottery, celebrating the authenticity and tactile imperfections of the hand.

Central to Jason’s practice is an exploration of community and connection through tactile mark-making. His ceramic vessels serve as vehicles for connecting with others: objects meant to be held, carrying the traces of his hands into others’ hands. Through working with clay and engaging in collaborative public participation, Jason emphasizes the physicality of the hand and the intimacy embedded in each gesture. This approach allows his work to become an archive of the uniqueness and evidence of the human hand.

This focus on the hand is further amplified through soda firing, a process that accentuates surface, indentation, and irregularity. The resulting textures heighten both tactile and visual engagement, allowing each vessel to emerge with its own character. Like people, no two pieces are the same; each bears its own idiosyncrasies, shaped by touch, process, and chance.

GOAL! | Group Exhibition

Since 1930, the World Cup has been moving from country to country, bringing soccer fans from around the world together. For the first time since 1994, the United States is serving as the World Cup host. GOAL! is an exhibition celebrating the international soccer tournament and the welcome infusion of cultural diversity into the Midwest. Artists from around the country have designed their own “team jersey” as a welcome to our international visitors.

Visit the gallery to design your own jersey to hang on the lobby wall!

6:30pm A Conversation With Robyn Hitchcock | FREE
Registration for Free Event Required

With a career now spanning six decades, Robyn Hitchcock remains a truly one-of-a-kind artist. A surrealist rock ‘n’ roller, iconic troubadour, guitarist, poet, painter, and performer, Hitchcock has traversed many genres with humor, intelligence, and originality. From The Soft Boys’ proto-psych-punk and The Egyptians’ Dadaist pop to solo masterpieces, Hitchcock has crafted a strikingly original oeuvre rife with sagacious observation, astringent wit, recurring marine life, mechanized rail services, cheese, Clint Eastwood, and innumerable finely drawn characters, real and imagined.

Along with his musical efforts, Hitchcock has appeared in several films, among them collaborations with the late Jonathan Demme on 1998’s concert documentary Storefront Hitchcock and roles in 2004’s The Manchurian Candidate and 2008’s Rachel Getting Married. An inveterate traveller and live performer, Hitchcock has toured nearly constantly for the past four decades, playing countless shows worldwide, from Africa to the Arctic.
