Join us for an INSIGHT Art Talk with Heidi Herrman, as she discusses her solo show, Remnants and Reveries!
Heidi Herrman (b. 1972)
Heidi Herrman’s encaustic and textile-based works explore the tactile language of memory, resilience, and impermanence through layering, repetition, and material transformation.
Drawing from a background in fashion design and a deep respect for handcraft, Herrman combines encaustic wax with salvaged textiles, hand-stitching, fabric remnants, and captured digital imagery to navigate the intersections of labor, identity, repair, and time.
Her works function as quiet acts of reclamation. They celebrate the overlooked, the imperfect, and the handmade—insisting that beauty can be found in the unresolved and the worn.
Her process is both intuitive and deliberate, continually returning to the body—not as subject, but as presence, as weight, as history embedded in surface and cloth.
