Join host Ric Averill on the Boys & Girls Club bus for a thrilling ghost tour of Lawrence, featuring live reenactments of the city’s most iconic spirits. Actors bring to life figures like Mathilda Erikson, George ‘Nash’ Walker, and Larkin Skaggs, the only Quantrill Raider killed during the 1863 raid. This one-hour tour blends history and performance, offering a spooky and engaging look at Lawrence’s past. Saturday’s 3pm show is a family friendly matinee version.

What is the path of the bus tour?

The tour will begin in front of The Lawrence Arts Center. From there, we will go to the Salvation Army, the Toy Store, and then stop at US Bank. After a drive to the Sigma Nu House and across campus, we will follow Quantrill’s path to the Eldridge, turn around and stop, go to Borders, Tony Peterson’s McAlister House in East Lawrence, and then Turnhalle. The tour will end back in front of The Lawrence Arts Center.

How long & how far will we travel?  

The bus tour will cover approximately eight blocks or just over 1 mile of downtown, campus, and part of East Lawrence. This tour will take approximately 1 hour. There will be a couple of stops on this tour to let our Ghostly Apparitions board and disembark at various portals.

What will the bus be like?

You will be riding on the Boys & Girls Club bus. Host Ric Averill and our Ghostly apparitions will have personal sound systems to amplify our storytelling. 

Can I bring food and drinks on the bus?

Yes, you can bring food and drink on the bus. We will have a bar with beer, wine, sparkling water, soda, and other treats available in the Art Center’s Main Lobby 30 minutes before the show begins. Any alcoholic beverages must be consumed before leaving the Arts Center.

What does accessibility look like for the trolley tour?

If you have any questions about accessibility or special considerations, don’t hesitate to contact Justin by email at justin@lawrenceartscenter.org or by phone at 785-843-2787 ext. 128. Unfortunately, there is no wheelchair lift or way to secure wheelchairs on the bus.

What is your inclement weather policy?

While it is usually cooler in late October, weather conditions can change rapidly. The decision to delay or cancel a performance is made at 5 pm nightly. Check our website and social media for the most up-to-date information on cancellations.
