Roger Shimomura | Select Prints

Roger Shimomura’s style combines his childhood love of comic books and interest in American pop art with the traditions of Japanese woodblock prints, resulting in a contemporary American presentation that references his Japanese ancestry. His vibrant art conveys messages about politics, society, racism, and stereotypes, sparking conversation about Asian American identities.

We will have copies of Roger’s catalog, Prints of Pop (& War), available at the LAC Front Desk for purchase.

Lori Stanziola | Pressed Into Memory

Lori Stanziola’s collection of multilayered relief printmaking brings together images that celebrate big vistas and small details of life. Through the act of gathering images, memories are preserved through objects; each print becomes a memento, a fragment of experience, carefully shaped, inked, and pressed into permanence.

At the heart of this exhibition is the universal experience of curating what we hold dear, and the human desire to preserve life’s moments – through both imagery and craft.

RED | Juried Exhibition

Red tape, red flag, seeing red, painting the town red. What does it mean to represent the color red? Often, we associate the color red with intense emotion or a warning. Other times, we think of flowers, birds, or hearts. The Lawrence Arts Center invited artists to submit artwork that relates to the subject/color “red,” which was open to the artist’s interpretation.

Out of over 300 submissions from across the country, our juror selected 75 pieces for this exhibition. Selected artwork explores various concepts across many mediums. We are thrilled to bring this dynamic and diverse group of artworks to the community.

Cottonwood, Inc. | Light Fandango

Cottonwood, Inc. has served adults with intellectual disabilities for over 40 years and provides Life Enrichment Services in Lawrence. Lawrence Arts Center hosts an annual exhibition of the artwork made by Cottonwood Students in our printmaking studio, showcasing their vibrant capabilities. Many pieces are also for sale, with 100% of the sales going to each Cottonwood Artist. It’s their chance to sell their artwork, benefiting the artists through their creations.

This exciting annual exhibition is not to be missed!
