Leave Your Mark with Jason Wang

Jason Wang, our 2025 Ceramic Artist-in-Residence will be throwing between 150–200 cups, each of which he would love to have altered by a different person. These cups will be soda fired and displayed in his exit exhibition at the Lawrence Arts Center in June. This project aims to capture the uniqueness of each participant, with the clay serving as an archive of the hand.

Following the opening reception, a few public events will take place in which visitors will be invited to pick up the cups, metaphorically holding another person’s hand, and drink from them. After the exhibition concludes, those who altered a cup will be encouraged to take one home that was touched by someone else.

If you want to leave your mark and join Jason on this collaborative journey, he will be in the main lobby of the Lawrence Arts Center at 2pm-4pm on Saturday, January 24 and 31.
