Starting with Level I, students remain in each level until they've mastered the required material to progress to the next level. Students focus on identifying rhythmic patterns, structures, syncopation, counter rhythms, and call and response. Rudimentary tap dance sequences such as time-steps and more complex vocabulary are regularly rehearsed. No class Nov. 26. First-year students wear ballet slippers until approved to purchase and wear pointe shoes. Classes focus on strengthening the body and using proper technique in preparation for the rigors of dancing en pointe. In addition to the two pointe classes, Ballet V-VI students are required to enroll in three ballet technique classes per week.
