Beginning students focus on building rhythm, coordination, and character skills until they are ready for syncopation movements, body isolations, dynamic leaps, suspended turns, and stylized choreography. In this introductory jazz class, students will learn the fundamentals for stylized jazz choreography while building rhythm, coordination, and character skills. No class Nov. 26. First-year students wear ballet slippers until approved to purchase and wear pointe shoes. Classes focus on strengthening the body and using proper technique in preparation for the rigors of dancing en pointe. In addition to the two pointe classes, Ballet V-VI students are required to enroll in three ballet technique classes per week.
