Jars | Group Exhibition

Jars, a group exhibition, brings together a wide range of approaches to the jar form in contemporary ceramics. The jar form has been a staple in ceramic art for thousands of years.  These forms can simultaneously decorate a space and serve a utilitarian purpose. Artists invited to participate in this exhibit utilize various construction techniques and firing methods to create their ceramic vessels.  Jars culminates in a rich and varied grouping of ceramic jars created by a dynamic roster of artists.

Barry Fitzgerald | Half & Half

Barry Fitzgerald is a multi-disciplinary illustrator and artist who explores the compositional relationships between geometry, organic forms, and the design fundamentals of shape, line, texture, and pattern through playful illustrations.

A portion of the work for this exhibition was completed during an artist residency at Red Barn Studio in Lindsborg, KS. The other work was completed after the residency in Lawrence. Both series explore the compositional relationships between geometry and organic forms through the design fundamentals of shape, line, texture, and pattern. One series attempts to feel full and dense; the other is light and understated, to make two halves of the whole.

Norman Gee | Still Learning

Norman Gee presents a new, unseen body of work. For the last two decades, Gee has kept his artwork in his studio, allowing only close friends and family to see his creations. In this exhibition, Gee’s new paintings are inspired by traditional Chinese patterns, landscapes, and abstractions–evidence that at 86, he is still here and still learning.
