Calling youth dancers and adults to audition for The Nutcracker, A Kansas Ballet!

This production is based on E.T.A. Hoffman’s original story and set in Lawrence, Kansas during the Civil War era. This ballet production tells the story of how Drosselmeyer and Clara liberate the Nutcracker from the clutches of the Mouse King. This family production is for audiences of all ages. Be a part of this winter seasonal favorite! Auditions are Saturday, September 6.

Auditioning for the production is FREE but pre-registration online by Sept. 4 is required. Audition applicants are asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to their audition time and dress wearing appropriate dance attire. Applicants do not need to prepare any material prior to the audition, but youth applicants are required to be enrolled in ballet classes at the Arts Center. There are no requirements for adults.

Age Requirement: 1st Grade to Adults

Saturday, September 6:

• • 11 am: Ballet IV-Va, Teens Ballet (will not include a segment of pointe work)
  • 12 pm: Intro to Ballet, Ballet I
  • 2 pm: Ballet II-III
  • 3:30 pm: Ballet Vb-VII (will include optional segment of pointe work)

Sunday, September 7:

• • 1 pm: Adults eligible roles: Party Adults, Lawrencians, Mother Ginger

Saturday, September 20 thru Sunday, September 21:

• • Call Backs **Those considered for a lead role may be requested to attend Call Backs.**

Rehearsals

Due to fewer rehearsals, attending all rehearsals is required. 

• • Regular rehearsals scheduled during: Sat/Sun, Oct. 18-Nov. 23, 12-6:30pm
  • Brush up rehearsal scheduled during: Mon/Fri, Dec. 2-5, 4:30-8:30pm 
  • Full cast tech rehearsal, Sat-Thur, Dec  6-11, Time TBA

Registration required: FA-DYNKB $165.00 participation fee, no fee for adults and Lawrence Ballet Theatre.
